Our entrepreneur in the spotlight this month is Alicia Beech
A master of many tools, Alicia has maximised her Instagram as the platform to sell her bold and beautiful paintings. Although this could easily be a successful full time job, two months ago Alicia launched Aura Digital to help other creatives and small businesses also achieve their goals and create income with what they do.
As a Digital Marketing Consultant, Alicia coaches people to leverage social media and digital marketing with tools such as Canva, Instagram and email marketing.
“Aura Digital’s mission is to inspire and empower people to use digital tools, platforms and apps to achieve their goals and create opportunities for themselves. I love watching people thrive, especially when it’s as easy as giving a few tips and tricks to get the ball rolling.”
Painting, alone in her ‘bat cave’, without any inhibitions is Alicia’s happy place.
"It’s what I need to be doing. But if it’s all I did, I would probably lose touch with the outside world and reality (laughs). Aura Digital means I get to pass on what I’ve learnt.”
Alicia’s savviness with digital tools (especially Instagram) means she is consistently pre-booked out for her art.
‘That’s the great thing about social media, we can be so human with no need to be polished. Instagram is the whole reason I've been able to get a following and pursue my bliss and passion. I’m still pinching myself that I am here at this point.”
Alicia shares that one of Instagram’s biggest advantages is that it opens you up to the world, widening your potential customer base. No longer are you limited by being a local business.
“Instagram allows my main market to be in Australia. Just this morning I sold a painting to someone in Perth.”
First connected with Venture Centre through her role at Creative BOP (where she was marketing lead), Alicia is excited to continue partnering with their work in equipping entrepreneurs on their journey.
“What I love is that Venture Centre is here to help those starting out on the journey, to point them in the various directions based on their needs. I will be referring people here through Aura, especially to complete the PoweringOn Digital Assessment. It’s a great tool for people to utilise and find out how to leverage the ‘tech stuff.”
Bringing her digital smarts to our community, Alicia will be facilitating her first workshop this month, Your Digital Marketing Toolkit, where she will presents an overview of digital tools and apps available to assist people in the implementation of their digital marketing strategy.
‘If I can do it, anyone can. People just need the know-how and confidence to use the tools.’
